The Lebanese cedar (Cedrus libani) or أرز لبناني

A true cedar and a member of the Pinaceae family native to the mountains of the Levant region. Typically grow in shallow soils on steep slopes. Most commonly found between 1300 and 3000 meters.

They are referenced in the epic of Gilgamesh and are featured on the Lebanese flag.

Currently listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List.
